Web Summit, the Lisbon conference that is the largest of its kind in Europe, has run a Gulf edition in Doha since 2024. The 2027 edition is 31 January to 3 February.
What it is
A general technology conference on the Lisbon model: several stages running in parallel, a large start-up floor, investor meetings arranged by the organiser, and a media programme. The Doha edition has drawn tens of thousands of attendees in each of its first three years, with the Qatar Investment Authority and the Gulf's sovereign funds a visible part of the investor list.

General attendee tickets are on sale on qatar.websummit.com; start-ups apply to exhibit under the organiser's Alpha, Beta and Growth programmes, and investors and press apply separately.
From Dubai
Doha is about an hour by air with frequent flights, and the conference week is the one time of year a Dubai founder can meet the Gulf's venture capital in one building without flying to Riyadh.
How it sits with Dubai's calendar
It falls two days before Step Dubai, on 3–4 February at Dubai Internet City, so the two make a single week for anyone covering the region's start-up scene.
Web Summit's value in Doha is not the stages, which are the same speakers who do the circuit, but the investor meetings the organiser arranges for start-ups that exhibit. A Dubai start-up with a Beta booth gets a schedule of fund meetings it could not book itself, and the Gulf funds send their actual deal teams to this one. The ticket to buy is the exhibitor package, not the attendee pass, and the deadline that matters is the start-up application, which closes weeks before the event.
